If The Election Was Today…

Today I am going to give you an update on the polls from Éric Grenier from www.threehundredeight.com:

The polls today are saying that the Liberals are in the lead and would form a minority government if there was an election today. The Liberals are at 35.6% and the Conservatives are at 30.4%. The NDPs are at 23.8% and the Greens are at 4.4%. The Bloc are at 4.8%.

A major factor is that The Liberal Party will have gained 58 seats in Ontario since the 2011 election.

All polls have a margin of error.

Explanation: Margin of Error

In polls, they always have a margin of error. This is because they only call a certain number of people to do the survey. Depending on the sample size, the general people may not represent what the sample group. Usually, the smaller the sample size, the larger the margin of error.

To help this the site, threehundredeight.com, is looking at different polls to get an average number.

Some of the major polling companies are:

  •  Nanos/Globe and Mail-CTV
  • EKOS/iPolitics
  • Ipsos Reid/Globe News
  • Angus Reid Institute
  • Forum/Toronto Star

We will see what happens over the weekend. I will be watching the polls!

My next post will be about the undecided. These people are important because they make up the election.

Hello Omiya! Looks like Liberals would win. I am also decided to vote for Liberals. Both Conservatives and NDP are promising to balance the budget. However, Liberals are proposing a deficit budget, 9 Billions. They propose to spend more on infrastructure projects. This would create more jobs. That should help economy too.
    What do you think?

Dear Omiya! Your political blog is very informative and thought provoking. I have not decided whom to vote for as yet. I have learned a great deal from the information you have provided in your blog. Keep up to the good work.
