As carbon dioxide is CO2, Methane is CH4. Methane is another greenhouse gas, like carbon dioxide. Methane is 21 times more potent than carbon dioxide. Fortunately, the methane emissions are only 9% and the carbon dioxide emissions are 82%. This is still not good. Methane comes from livestock. CO2 comes from pollution. Between 2002 and 2014, methane emissions have increased by 30%. Some leaders are starting to make a change, but unfortunately, they are making the wrong change. There are less coal-powered power plants that are replaced with natural gas powered ones. These new power plants increase the methane that is sent into the environment and the atmosphere. This does not help the methane emissions, but it reduced the carbon dioxide emissions.
